Twitter Reacts To The Donald Trump Second Amendment Comment

Donald Trump really is the gift that keeps on giving, or at least the politician that keeps on slipping, and the Donald Trump Second Amendment comment has Twitter and the rest of the internet in a tizzy. For those of you who aren’t very familiar with The Constitution, the Second Amendment states:

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

So basically, if the state gets a little out hand you can defend yourselves with a militia and rise up (think U.S. colonies vs. the British). I’m not a constitutional lawyer but, I’m pretty sure, they didn’t mean you should be able to own a gun that can kill a mastadon. And today Trump stated that maybe, the “Second Amendment people” can stop Hillary from being elected. So, for the first time in history, a presidential nominee has flirted with suggesting that his supporters should shoot his opponent. I know it’s a bit of a stretch, but here’s the video from the rally posted via RightWingWatch.org:

He also seemed to suggest that the liberals were responsible for the death of Justice Antonin Scalia? But anyway, his campaign quickly sent out a memo that he was not suggesting his supporters shoot his opponent, only that “2nd Amendment People have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified”.

So basically, Trump was only suggesting that Second Amendment supporters should show up to vote. But that didn’t stop the Twitter storm from happening.

Points for integrating two Trump screw-ups.

Watch the guy behind him (presumably a supporter) react to the comment.
