It seems that curiosity does not always kill the “cat.” Sometimes it takes them to far away places and makes them seasoned backpackers. That is probably one of their side activities when they are not too busy trying to conquer the human race. One cat’s curiosity even took him 700 miles away from home, all because of one silly accident.
It happened in Nova Scotia, Canada to a 1-year-old cat named Baloo. Baloo is not unlike most cats, he is mischievous, inquisitive, and a constant plotter of how to torment his humans. One day, Baloo’s owner, Jacqueline Lake and her family were busy boxing up some tire rims to send as packages in Alberta, approximately 2,400 miles from home.
The day after the said parcel had been sent to Alberta, Jacqueline noticed that Baloo was nowhere to be found. They even got worried because they thought Baloo had gone missing around the neighborhood. So they frantically looked for him around to no avail.
“We knocked door-to-door, we searched the woods, we searched under decks, in garages, under steps … he was gone,” said Jacqueline. Baloo was simply nowhere to be found.
Turns out, Baloo was en route to Alberta and was already 700 miles away from home in Montreal. He was discovered by a delivery driver after 17 hours of cross-country travel. Thankfully, a local shelter in Montreal was able to track down Baloo’s owners based on the parcel tracking code.
Eventually, Baloo was returned to Jacqueline on Saturday last week. Judging by the cat’s actions, he had no regrets and would probably do it again on a whim to his silly human slaves.
