A 47-year-old woman has been arrested after police found out she and her daughter had been residing in a house with her mom’s corpse, cops said.

via Mirror; A woman ‘made her teen daughter live with rotting remains of her gran for three years.’

After unearthing skeletal remains in the domicile, detectives believe in 2016 Delissa Navonne Crayton’s 71-year-old mother fell, struck her head and perished a few days later whilst lying on the floor. Accordant to authorities, the fall was non-life threatening, however Crayton did not provide ample assistance to her mom. “From 2016 until July 7, 2019, approximately 3 years, Delissa Crayton resided in the residence with her daughter who was at the time under the age of 15,” stated the Seguin Police Department. The remains were situated in one room of the house, while Crayton and her daughter coexisted in the second bedroom, said police. Investigators note they’re awaiting final verification to identify the remains.

Crayton was detained for “Injury to a Child under the age of 15 through recklessly, by omission, causing to a child, serious mental deficiency, impairment or injury,” told police. The charge is a second-degree felony which carries a fine of up to $10,000 and a sentence of 2 to 20 years in prison, police explained. “This is an ongoing and active investigation being conducted by Seguin Police Department, the Texas Rangers and the Guadalupe County Attorney’s Office,” the police department remarked. Cops are anticipating more charges against Crayton.
