‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ on Netflix Will Rock You

If you miss “30 Rock”, and your heart broke watching the finale of “Parks And Recreation”, don’t go crying into your popcorn yet. Netflix is now streaming the newest, funniest smart lady-centric comedy you could ever hope for.

“The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is created by the dynamic duo of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. It stars the adorable, perky Ms. Ellie Kemper (“the Office”, “Bridesmaids“) as the titular character. Kimmy Schmidt is a member of an underground apocalypse cult who’s been sprung free after 15 years of hiding. She decides to leave her hometown Indiana, where she feels she’s always be “seen as the victim’, and sets out to find her luck in the great big Out-there. She’s vowed never to go back, and is out to explore the colorful, head, mad crush of New York City , all the while keeping a job as a nanny. Naive about the ways of the urban jungle, Kimmy Schmidt will win you over with her hard-core resilience and effervescent wonder.

“There’s a tenacity there, that I think, without it, a woman would not have been able to endure a situation like she has endured,” Kemper shares. “So while Kimmy is totally un-jaded and invigorated and optimistic and inspired by this new world she has before her, she’s also very fierce and tough.”

Joining her are co-stars Tituss Burgess as her sassy, flamboyant roomie, Jane Krakowski (a “30 rock” trooper) as her self-entitled high-society boss, and iconic comedienne Carol Kane as her nosy landlady.

Despite it’s incredibly dark premise(“apocalypse cult”. Tell me that didn’t give you the creeps.), “the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is chock-full of optimism and laughs aplenty.

Ellie Kemper also shares some similarities with the show’s plucky wonder-girl. She’s moved to New York, and shares on an interview a hard lessons she learned involving strangers and credit cards.
