Time and time again, we’ve shown how love finds its way in the most unexpected means. From romance stories hidden in a painting, to even some wisdom from real-life couples, love always finds a way. So, I think we can say it’s a lovely thing when love does tie together two people, quite unwittingly, through Twitter.
And of all places? A corporate account. When you think about it, whether for better or for worse, these Twitter accounts are run by real-life flesh-and-blood living, breathing people. So it makes total sense that back in 2012, Twitter user Victoria Carlin developed this crush on whoever was running the account for Waterstones’ TCR, thanks to all the adorably nerdy tweets.
Here’s the one that started it all.
#bookfacts While there are now millions of books, the first 150 were obviously the best. No, wait..that’s Pokemon. #pokemonfacts

and here’s how she responded.
well I’m in love with whoever is manning the @WstonesOxfordSt account. Be still my actual beating heart.

which in turn, Waterstones TCR parried with…
@ameliesoleil Pff, he’s not that dreamy in real life.

Victoria was going to have the final say in this one.
@WstonesOxfordSt pffft. Book nerds > dreamboats. #girlfacts

Tell me this conversation is not adorable. I dare you.
Jonathan O’Brien, later revealed to be Victoria’s Twitter crush, still remembers that when they finally met in person after tweeting back and forth for some time. “One day Victoria came into the shop with doughnuts, I ate them (giving away a very cavalier attitude to food from strangers),” he shared with Mashable.
The two went for a walk at Jonathan’s lunch break, and then after to a secret cocktail bar. (ooooh.) “It was easily the best first date I’ve ever been on (and hopefully the last first date I’ll ever go on). I brought a book of The Wizard of Oz as a present because Victoria had mentioned to me how much she loves the film,” he said.
Four years after, the to finally tied the knot at Islington Town Hall, London, with a very special appearance by a Pokemon.

And the the very first tweet was indeed mentioned in Victoria’s speech, Jonathan’s speech, and the best man’s speech. *tears up*
