‘Tinder’ Style Dating App Created For Singles With STDs

The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention says that 20 million cases of STDs are introduced every year. With more than a million Americans living with these infections, several people quit the dating game for fear of people judging them for their diagnosis.

Positive Singles is a new Tinder-style app that allows these people a chance to find love, even with the stigma that comes with having an STD. The creator of the app, Richard Cordova says the app take away the possibility of being rejected because of a diagnosis.

“There’s a terrible tendency to write off people with STDs in the dating world,” said Richard Cordova of PositiveSingles in a release. “On the general dating sites or apps, many singles with STDs are often rejected by others immediately after they disclose their condition. It’s really not fair. Should they be denied an opportunity for love simply because they struggle with a disease? This was how the PositiveSingles app came into being.”

The app and website are easy to start using. You fill out the basic name, age and location information. Oh, and don’t forget about the drop-down menu where you choose what STD you have. It seems a little awkward, but this is coming from someone with a clean bill of health. So, what do I know?

With more than 700,000 users, the app is definitely appealing to many. Positive Singles is available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
