Reddit Growth: 6% Of Americans Now Use The Social Platform

Reddit Demographics and 6 Percent Population Use

If you use Reddit you are among 6% of all Americans who have taken to the social sharing and conversation platform.

Following the conclusion of a new Pew Internet and American Life Project study Aaron Smith, a Pew spokesman explains:

“After the election and the Boston Marathon Bombing it seemed Reddit had reached the mainstream conversation and we thought it was a good time to get a read on general usage.”

In comparison two-thirds of Americans use Facebook and between 13 to 16 percent use Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Another platform with six percent penetration is the social blogging platform Tumblr.

While six percent of the population now uses Reddit the site is still dominated by a predominantly male audience. According to Pew Research one in six male Internet users between the ages of 18 and 29 said they use Reddit. In comparison just one in 20 women in the same age range.

Men between 30 and 49 years old also reported to using Reddit in eight percent of all survey responses.
