Mysterious Iridescent Cloud Signals End of The World?!

Picture a cloud. All white, fluffy, wispy, drifting across a pristine blue sky with its silver lining with nary a care in the world. Listen: the birds singing in the boughs, the cool summer wind rustling the grass beneath your toes. All is right with the world.

Unless, of course, the could starts taking on an unearthly hue, and it boggles the mind, just as one large cloud formation did above Escazú in Costa Rica, causing witnesses and residents to  declare it a sign of the END OF THE WORLD.

It seems to be such a timely coincidence that the mighty glow cloud — ahem, the cloud — has made its presence felt on the country’s independence day, and was seen above independence day, it was also seen above San Jose, Parrita, Pavas, Escazu and Hatillo.

Instagram used who photographed the phenomenon used tagged their photos with #EscazuCostaRica and #ElcieloExtraño, meaning “the strange sky”.

Instagrammer @kevinotway called it “Illlominous perturbations”. Another Escazú resident commented on ABC News: “It’s like a sign from God“. another Instagrammer commented, “Yes, it IS like the Lord is going to come through those clouds :-)”

Of course, there’s a perfectly scientific explanation to this meteorological occurrence, and a very rare one indeed. “In the clouds formed by droplets and ice particles,” says Eladio Solano, a meteorologist with Costa Rica’s National Meteorological Institute, “the light is refracted and achieves this phenomenon.”

Or you know, may be it’s just one of those random events in the Universe that remind us of how tiny and insignificant we are in the great, cosmic plan, and that were are not alone in this universe.

This thought is not always meant to comfort you.

ALL HAIL.
