Michelle Obama, the FLOTUS with the most-est, officially joined Instagram on Thursday with a photo and a video from her Senegal trip. We promise we’re not going to get all political on you in this post. Frankly, we’re just happy her first post wasn’t a picture of her lunch.
Anyway, Michelle’s first Instagram post was a photo of her posting with daughter Malia and a few other young ladies.
“My first instagram! So inspired and so impressed by these extraordinary young women,” she captioned the photo.
After the photo, Michelle posted a video of female middle school students dancing at a school in Dakar, an apparent welcome ceremony. She has since published a few more photos from her trip and at least one other video as of this posting.
And if you were afraid that Michelle is just going to be a boring grown-up with this whole Instagram thing, a photo of the ominous “Door of No Return” on Goree Island tells me she’s catching on pretty quick.
You can check out Michelle Obama’s Instagram account here. After Senegal, the First Family will head to South Africa and then to Tanzania in their week-long Africa trip. Here are a handful of people who are way too happy about Michelle Obama being on Instagram:
Ok, nobody freak out, but @MichelleObama is on Instagram. This is the best day ever.

I know she has very little to do with it, but Michelle Obama’s Instagram is changing my life.
