Meet Shabani, Japan’s Newest Zoo Hunk

Shabani

George Clooney, move aside. There’s a new hunk in town, and he’s got Japanese women swooning.

Meet Shabani, the newest celebrity to grace the enclosures of Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya, Japan. He’s got everything you might want in a man: a strong jaw, strong muscles, even that killer look that can send pulses racing. We’re also kinda sure he has a soft, sensitive side. Nonetheless, this hearthrob has brought in more women visitors in the facility than the zoo officials remember.

Oh, and Shabani’s a gorilla.

Shabani hails from Taronga Zoo in Sydney before moving to Japan in 2007. It was only until recently that he achieved his hunk status. His dashing good looks have inspired a devoted Twitter following that has since dubbed him a fine specimen of “ikemen“. The word itself (pronounced “Ih-kehmen”) means ” a cool, exciting, handsome young man”, or “super-hot guy” for short. Thirsty?

“He often rests his chin on his hands and looks intently at you,” zoo spokesman Takayuki Ishikawa shared with AFP. “He is more buff than most gorillas and he’s at his peak physically. We’ve seen a rise in the number of female visitors — women say he’s very good-looking.”

In record time, Shibani got rocketed to meme-worthy status.

Watch out, Derek Zoolander! This zoo isn’t big enough for the two of you.

He’s beauty, he’s grace.

Hey Justin Bieber, this is how you do it.

“He’s a father and he always protects and looks over his children,” Ishikawa continues. “Zoo-goers think his kindness is attractive too.”
