George Takei Shows You How Pics Go Viral [Video]

Content is great, but viral content is what brings in the money. Take it from Facebook, design firm Stamen, and social media celebrity George Takei who teamed up to study how photos go viral on the internet.

The experiment was simple: Takei shared a handful of photos on his Facebook page, and Stamen took the shared date from his photos and converted it into a series of interactive graphics, published by Facebook yesterday.

The graphics are colored by gender, and each streak represents someone re-sharing the image. Each generation of shares fade to white after it ages to convey the passage of time. The video embedded below details the process, and each of the shared graphics can be viewed in their entirety at FacebookStories.com.
