#floatboy

#Floatboy quickly went viral after a photographer captured a strange sight at a high school basketball game. Liz Brunson, an Illinois photographer was snapping pictures at Champaign Central High School’s game when she noticed one of her photographs of player, Walker Stillman appearing to levitate. The photo quickly went viral.

Trending as #FloatBoy, the photo didn’t just go viral on social media. Many major media outlets picked up the story of the mysterious photo, like ESPN show, Mike & Mike.

Brunson says at first she didn’t see anything odd about the photo because she was aware how high Walker could jump. She was surprised to notice how much attention the photo garnered.

“I really didn’t have much reaction when I saw the shot because I’ve taken plenty of pictures of Walker, and I know he can jump,” Brunson explains. “I just thought it was funny, had no idea that it would go viral like that.”

Walker told the News-Gazette about the play: “Most of the people I’ve heard from ask me ‘What were you doing?’ I had jumped for a rebound and saw that it wasn’t coming my way, so I kind of stopped what I was doing.”

Walker’s mom and assistant principal of the high school said she is going to get the picture framed to remind her son of how high he could once jump.

And just in case you thought the picture was photoshopped, the school’s athletic program released video of the play.
