Facebook on Monday announced that the social network now has 901 million active users, stoking speculation that the company will officially pass 1 billion users before the end of 2012.
The user stats were revealed in the company’s amended S-1 filing which is being used as part of the company’s SEC filing for its May IPO. The network also revealed that it now receives 3.2 billion comments per day with 300 million photos uploaded daily.
Facebook also proved its social hub status, revealing 125 billion friendships. The company says of its 901 million users 526 million are daily active users while 499 million people access Facebook mobile products each month.
During the social networks IPO paperwork filing with the SEC in february they announced 845 million users, that number led Gregory Lyons of iCrossing to predict the one million mark goal for August 2012.
In comparison Twitter announced in February that it had surpassed 500 million users of which only 140 million accounts are active.
