Chef Jaques La Merde is a culinary force to be reckoned with on Instagram.
This faceless food virtuoso has plated amazing and elegant delights that are a feast for the eyes.
We quite honestly find ourselves salivating and vicariously sitting down to each five-star dish on his account. (Ask the accounts 117,000+ followers. The numbers certainly don’t lie.)
And oh yeah, Chef Jacques La Merde is absolutely, positively, 100% fictional. (If the French surname didn’t tip you off… ) Oh, and all these exquisite dishes are made entirely out of either junk food, fast food, processed food, or candy.
You’re welcome.
Now, before the description in the above Insta-post horrifies your finely-tuned tastebuds, allow us to give you the lowdown on this Instagram account.
The mastermind behind Chef Jacques La Merde is none other than Christine Flynn, executive chef at Toronto’s IQ Food Co. She later revealed her identity on Bon Apetit.
“… /it was a no-brainer to combine all three (food, art, and irony) in an Instagram account where a bumbling, slightly hysterical chef makes “fine-dining” food with low-brow ingredients and lovingly points out some of the more ridiculous norms of current dining trends,” she writes. “When people ask me why I started the account I’m at a loss. I thought it would be funny. That’s all.”
“No deeper meaning, no hidden agendas other than making people laugh and carving out a small spot on the internet where I could just be a giant goofball.”
“I have to laugh that it was a bit of ranch dip and some Doritos that got me noticed.” https://t.co/Yz0iKYhJCz pic.twitter.com/OLOH6lcWuq
