The book fell from his bunk bed and a page tore, leading the ever thoughtful Master Jackson to write a note of apology to the library staff.

Addressed to “Library”, the note reads: “I am sorry that a page ripped when it fell out of my bunk when I fell asleep reading,” the note said. It won’t happen again. I’m sorry. From Jackson.”

Library staff found the note attached to the comic book when the boy returned it. They decided to post an image of the letter to Facebook, where it garnered 3,000 likes and nearly 800 shares in a matter of hours. “We get ripped books all the time,” said librarian Eila McLeish, “so we were just like, ‘Oh that’s so nice!’ And to have it from the child, who obviously wrote it himself – we just thought it was really sweet.

Boy apologizes to library. The Main Street public library in Toronto received this note with one of their comic books: “I am sorry that a page ripped when it fell out of my bunk when I fell asleep reading,” the note said. It won’t happen again. I’m sorry. From Jackson.”

“How precious! Yay for kids that still read a book before falling asleep!” said one commenter, Vitrine Canada. “You’re so honest Jackson!” comments Al Samson. “Keep it up. Falling asleep while reading happens to everyone. So don’t worry. I know the library will understand. And your gesture to be apologetic and honest is the most important lesson here. Thanks for inspiring us old folks.”
