Looking to get specific Facebook photos a little bit more attention on your friends’ news feeds? Now you can, provided that you’re willing to pony up some cash.
The social network announced on Wednesday that US users can now “promote” personal posts to their friends for a fee. Testing started in New Zealand back in May, but became available in more than 20 countries worldwide, and it has now become available to Americans. According to The Verge, the price for promotion is about $7.
Businesses can already use the promotion feature, but personal updates can sometimes fall by the wayside, so if you have a big announcement like a wedding or baby pictures, you can pay to make sure your post hits the top of the feed.
“Sometimes a particular friend might not notice your post, especially if a lot of their friends have been posting recently and your story isn’t near the top of their feed,” Facebook said in a blog post. “When you promote a post – whether it’s wedding photos, a garage sale, or big news – you bump it higher in news feed so your friends and subscribers are more likely to notice it.”
Would you pay to promote a post on Facebook? Sound off!
