Viral Video Proves That Texting And Driving Is Bad

Texting And Driving Crash

A new viral video proves that texting and driving is bad. Very bad. The video was shot by a dash cam on a Fort Myers Police Department squad car and shows the adventure of one Michael James Woody Jr. 23, who made the decision to text while he was driving.

Thankfully, Woody wasn’t injured, but his car, well, his car was probably totaled. News-Press reports that Officer Ivan Moorer noticed a Pontiac Grand Am driving erratically and decided to follow the vehicle as he turned on to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bouleverad.

Footage from the dash cam shows Woody accelerating across a few lanes and directly into a guardrail, bus stop sign, and tree before rolling over onto the hood. Woody was able to crawl out through the driver’s window, where he then knelt to the ground and probably thanked a higher power he wasn’t hurt.

Unfortunately, the 23-year-old was still cited for careless driving and texting while driving, which is against the law in Florida. We’re guessing Woody won’t ever have his phone in his hands while driving again … when he gets another car.
