Sure we know Twitter is a killer app for sending out millions of tweets, but where exactly are those messages coming from? The easiest way to find out is to look at the one million tweet map.
Powered by Maptimize software the map updates every single time a tweet is sent with 20 tweets arriving every single second. As new tweets arrive the 20 oldest tweets are removed from the maps figures.
Maptimize uses Twitter’s API for accuracy and the map can be viewed as a heat map or cluster.
Viewers also have the option to select a certain timeframe for when tweets were sent out.
Users should note that the map only updates itself from geotagged Tweets since they are needed to determine the location of the user on the map.
