Twitter Acquires Startup AdGrok, CEO Takes Job At Facebook Instead

Antonio Garcia-Martinez - Facebook Employee

Towards the end of May the startup AdGrok was purchased by Twitter. AdGrok had built a quick reputation building keyword-bidding tools for advertisers and the buyout was largely seen as a talent-acquisition buy, there’s just one problem, the major part of that acquisition, CEO Antonio Garcia-Martinez, decided not to work for Twitter.

Then it got worse (or better depending on who you ask). Martinez actually ended up taking a job with social network competitor Facebook right after the company was officially sold to Twitter.

TechCrunch reports that:

“This split hasn’t exactly left both sides all warm and cuddly.”

Then it got better, Garcia-Martinez took to his Facebook wall to write a quote made famous by the company’s relationship status options:

“It’s complicated.”
