The Twitter 100 list is here. In celebration of Tweet Week, Sports Illustrated released its second annual list of the most influential athletes in sports.
The list includes reporters like ESPN.com columnist J.A. Adande, athletes like Kevin Durant, and team owners like Marc Cuban.
Sports Illustrated writes:
“For our second annual Twitter 100, we once again polled Sports llustrated staffers who are hard-core Twitter users (they are among the 140 million active on the service) and asked them which feeds they considered essential to their daily routine for finding news, information and entertainment from the sports world. We received hundreds of worthy suggestions but eventually whittled down the list to our Top 100.”
Social media has definitely had a big impact on sports. The social networking site has opened up a direct line of communication between teams and athletes and their fans. The New York Giants recently used Twitter to alert fans that Hakeem Nicks wouldn’t be playing during the Carolina Panthers game. Roddy White used the social networking site to apologize to his fantasy fans after a poor performance. And of course, athletes use Twitter to gloat.
FYI: Tomorrow is the three-month anniversary of winning in our quest for world domination. As you were.
