Campalyst published its Complete Guide to Top Internet Retailers on Social Media for 2013 today, and examined data from the top 250 Internet retailers.
It focused on six major social networks, and here’s the percentage on each social network:
- Facebook – 98 percent
- Twitter – 96 percent
- YouTube – 94 percent
- Pinterest – 86 percent
- Google+ – 81 percent
- Instagram – 56 percent
When it comes to the average number of fans or followers on each social network, Facebook significantly leads the way:
- Facebook – 1,793,120
- Twitter – 143,071
- Instagram – 137,751
- Google+ – 104,896
- Pinterest – 86,111
- YouTube – 26,244
While YouTube ranks towards the bottom in average number of followers, it’s seen growth of 339 percent compared to Q3 2012.
Here’s the breakdown of average number of fans or followers across the top 10 Internet retailers:
- Facebook – 19,560,514
- Pinterest – 1,619,117
- Twitter – 1,604,569
- Google+ 1,461,323
- Instagram – 1,196,168
- YouTube – 476,902
Here are the top five Internet retailers on Facebook:
- Walmart – 34,067,174 likes
- Victoria’s Secret – 23,352,085 likes
- Target – 22,462,146 likes
- Adidas – 22,146,818 likes
- Amazon.com – 21,638,424
Here are the top five most followed Internet retailers on Twitter:
- MLB – 3,300,623 followers
- Victoria’s Secret – 3,041,753 followers
- Apple – 2,233,991 followers
- Nike – 1,621,725 followers
- Adidas – 1,375,417 followers
Here are the top five Internet retailers with the most subscribers on YouTube:
- Apple – 1,727,703 subscribers
- Discovery Channel – 995,086 subscribers
- Nike – 801,362 subscribers
- Victoria’s Secret – 349,355 subscribers
- Newegg – 280,737 subscribers
Google+ is right up there with Twitter in terms of followers:
- Art.com – 2,594,551 followers
- MLB – 2,053,825 followers
- Sephora – 1,674,119 followers
- Williams Sonoma – 1,569,631 followers
- GameStop – 1,552,480 followers
Pinterest is a goldmine for retailers in general, and here are the five most followed:
- L.L.Bean – 5,511,033 followers
- Nordstrom – 4,432,799 followers
- Lowe’s – 3,513,860 followers
- Lululemon – 1,929,553 followers
- Sephora – 242,413 followers
In 2012, Catalyst left out Instagram, and with some brands now having over one million followers, that’s changed for 2013.

- Victoria’s Secret – 3,034,580 followers
- Nike – 2,805,386 followers
- Urban Outfitters – 1,044,621 followers
- NFL – 958,283 followers
- Tiffany Co. – 928,439 followers
