For a long time, porn ruled supreme on the internet. There’s no doubt that pornography still holds a large portion of the world’s internet traffic, but social media is the number one activity.
Erik Qualman, the author of Socialnomics, has just produced a video that shows just how much impact social media has had on the world.
Here are a few things to think about from the video:
- If Facebook were a country, it would be the third biggest in the world.
- 1 in 5 couples meet online / 3 in 5 gay couples meet online / 1 in 5 divorces are blamed on Facebook.
- eReaders now outsell traditional books.
- There are 1.5 million real world farmers. There are 80 million farmville farmers.
- If Wikipedia were printed it out, it would be 2.5 million pages long.
Here’s the video from Socialnomics.
