SlideShare Goes Mobile, Launches First On Android

SlideShare

SlideShare is one of the largest platforms for hosting documents and PowerPoint presentations, and today announced it’s available on Android.

This is the first time the service has made its way to mobile via official apps, which is surprising considering it’s been around since 2006.

When you fire up the app, you’re asked to log in with your Facebook, LinkedIn or SlideShare account.

Similar to Flipboard, you can follow categories such as Business or Technology that you’re interested in, and the app is split into three different sections.

“Home” is pretty self-explanatory, and where you can see featured slides while “Explore” is where you can dive into all the categories that you selected to follow.

“Me” simply lists all of the slides you saved, your uploads and everything you’ve liked.

When viewing a SlideShare presentation, the “Save,” “Like,” and “Share buttons are always present, and the app works in landscape mode which looks much better on larger displays Android is known for.

For now, you can only view presentations and not upload anything, and iOS users can sign up here as a beta tester.

SlideShare has also redesigned its website, and in preparation for its official mobile apps, uploaders can now customize how their presentations will look on smartphones or tablets.
