Sarah Palin chose to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day by telling President Obama to “stop playing the race card.” The request came in the form of a Facebook post that also included a photo of a MLK Jr. plaque that reads, “I have a dream.”
Palin also included King’s quote, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judge by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
The former Alaskan governor and one-time vice presidential candidate’s comments came after The New Yorker’s profile of the president written by David Remnick. In the story, Obama references his standing with white voters by saying, “There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president.”
While Obama’s comment is true (sorry, racism isn’t over in the world yet), Palin appears to believe that the president should stop telling people he’s black. Here’s her full post.

Sarah Palin’s comments have received more than 2,000 comments and almost 5,000 shares since she posted them. While some users agreed with her and applauded her statement on Obama, others criticized her statements, calling her racist and insensitive.
Regardless of what she believes, it probably wasn’t the best choice to criticize the president for “playing the race card” in a post celebrating a black civil rights icon.
