Quora Introduces Verified Profiles

Quora

Quora launched Verified Profiles today to help separate the fakes from the real deal, and President Barack Obama is one of the first to receive the verified treatment.

Virtually identical to Facebook and Twitter’s method for displaying Verified Profiles, a blue check mark will appear next to a user’s name.

There is no verification application process, however, and Quora says it verifies a profile “when we believe that a significant percentage of Quora readers recognize the person’s name or background and will value confirmation of the person’s identity. ”

Here are some other notable users now verified:

-Ashton Kutcher
-Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg
-Entrepreneur/Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban
-Netflix CEO Reed Hastings
-Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker
-Michael Bublé
-Stephen Fry

Back in November, Quora finally launched analytics to help users see the total impact of their responses.
