Never offer a cop a donut. Don’t do it. Even if your intentions are good. I’m speaking from personal experience, here. That was one ticket I couldn’t get out of. One gets the feeling that police officers are routinely teased about their stereotypical love of those little, fried circles of frosted happiness.
But really, who doesn’t love battered, fried, frosted happiness? Only some kind of communist, that’s for sure. In any case, one donut-loving cop may have let his passions for glazed confectionery treasure run a little too hot.
A Philadelphia police officer is facing criminal charges after allegedly attacking a Dunkin Donuts employee, along with a second female victim who tried to stop him. And all of this occurred on Valentines Day. City of brotherly love, indeed.
Okay, so here’s a little dose of boring old reality: the incident wasn’t necessarily donut related. Turns out, Officer Joseph Marion, 39, assaulted the employee because he lost control of a shopping cart he was using to salt the parking lot. Drat. It’s not funny that anybody was assaulted, but come on—you know you were envisioning a pissed off cop lifting a Dunkin Donuts employee by the collar because they were all out of Boston creme.
NJ.com reports further:
“The cart hit Marion’s vehicle, spurring Marion to get out and start attacking the employee. Marion also allegedly assaulted a woman who intervened in the initial attack.
“Police said Marion, a 4-year veteran of the force who worked in the 25th District, was arrested Tuesday and charged with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person following an internal affairs investigation.
“He has been suspended for 30-days with the intent to dismiss.”
