Today is #NationalHandwritingDay and to celebrate we want to share with you the greatest penmanship we’ve ever seen. It’s cursive, it’s print, it’s loopy and rigid. And it’s all written by the same person.
Reddit user oddacious (who also goes by the handle “Handwriting Chameleon”) shared their unique talent last year, writing that they have the ability to mimic just about any handwriting style (including signatures).
“Back in school when I wrote a lot by hand. Whole cascades of changes over dozens of pages. Whole notebook, once.”
Of course, there are a few drawbacks to this unique talent. Apparently Oddacious was accused of cheating more than once while in school.
I was a freshman, I think, and super freaked out. They didn’t tell me ahead of time why I had to defend myself; all I knew was that I’d been accused of cheating. I knew I hadn’t cheated. All of our stuff was on an honor system, so either the prof thought I cheated, or worse, one of my friends reported me for cheating. Falsely accused, about to be kicked out of college, and probably unable to get into another good school if I was expelled for cheating…
I was actually deeply relieved when I realized it was because all the pages of my bluebook (exam notebook) were different. I just asked for ten minutes to run back to my dorm and get my notes. Flip through a couple hundred pages of this, and…yeah, they let me go.
If you go on Twitter today you’ll find several cool handwriting samples from famous authors, celebrities, and just people who have cool handwriting. But the Handwriting Chameleon definitely wins out vote for coolest handwriting.
