Facebook has officially passed the one billion active users mark, according to an official blog post by CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg.
“This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month. If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you. Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life. I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too.”
Boasting 955 million active users in July 2012, the one-billion mark was practically a given for the popular social network. Despite this announcement and the success implied for Facebook by the milestone, the brand is still having trouble pulling in the revenue numbers it would like to see. Stock plummeted after the company’s public offering in 2012, and Facebook has attempted to regain lost momentum ever since.
Still, one-billion users? That’s pretty cool.
