Nothing like kicking back, relaxing and enjoying a big bowl of ramen, except maybe, relaxing in a big bowl of ramen. Yes, bathing in ramen is now considered a relaxation technique in Japan.
Relaxing ramen baths are now considered part of the full spa experience at Yunessan Spa House in Hakone. Located in south-eastern Japan, the spa offers customers a hot bath of beef broth and synthetic noodles. Apparently, using real noodles is illegal. We don’t even want to know why.

Ichiro Furuya, the owner of the spa, told Time: “Lately people are very concerned about having beautiful skin, and they know the effect of collagen, which is contained in our pork-based broth. At this bath, everybody can have fun and take advantage of the healthy elements of ramen noodles.”
So, basically the collagen in the broth is what is working wonders, so why not just use collagen cream. Because, ramen is rumored to speed up metabolism. Although, we can’t say that about eating it, just soaking in it.
You can call it a passing fad, but ramen baths seem to be sticking around. Foodies, tourists and even Japanese citizens are flocking to the spa for the special service.

The ramen spa treatment has been around since 2007, but has begun to take off after many spas have begun offering the unusual service.
Why travel all the way to Japan? Run to the store and buy a couple dozen packages of the noodles. Treat yo’self!
