Weight loss tips and studies are a dime-a-dozen these days and some of them are quite costly even and discouraging. Of course, there are some affordable methods too but they require a bit more effort on your part. However, a new method to lose weight has been discovered and it is both cheap and effortless: crying at night.
The information came from Dr. Aaron Neufeld of Los Altos Optometric Group. According to the eye-specialist, there is actually a certain type of tear that can help aid the crying person to lose weight. First, he discusses the three types of tears, namely Basal (they keep our eyes moist), Reflex (as a result of irritation), and Psychic tears (which result from emotions).
It’s the Psychic tears you will want to look out for since apparently, they help you to lose weight by reducing cortisol levels. Cortisol is a stress hormone that is actually linked to belly fat, one of the heaviest fat deposits in the human body. Of course, since Psychic tears only get triggered through emotional distress, you mostly shed them through sadness.
A similar study has already been done by William Frey back in the 1980s where he suggested that shedding tears can remove some toxic substances that have built up from stress. As for the actual time when crying Psychic tears should be done, Frey suggested the perfect window of 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at night to maximize cortisone release.
It’s not clear how much it can contribute to weight loss, however, further research might be needed but it shouldn’t hurt to cry– sorry, try.
So, if you find yourself munchy in the middle… of the night, you might want to reminisce that ex who broke-up with your without closure. If there’s no ex, then go watch some of the recent dog drama movies. Unless you want to work out to lose weight, then this is the best option.
