Nanny Cam Company Investigating Appearance of Mysterious Sleeping Girl in Video Feed

On rare occasions something will hit my inbox that I suspect to be the tiny morsel of truth in a future urban legend. So before it’s creepypasta, let’s take a look at a particularly spooky one.

That’s Not My Dog

Sandie Kaplanis bought a nanny cam to keep an eye on her 14-year old Chocolate Labrador, Amber. “Yes she has kidney failure,” Kaplanis explained. “I watch (Amber) to see if she’s breathing, to see if she is okay.”

For a while, the set-up worked well. But after a few weeks, Kaplanis experienced a bizarre product malfunction.

“I see this little girl and I say, ‘What is this?'”

Kaplanis was startled to see a little girl asleep in her bedroom from her end of the cam.

“So I log out and I log back in and I see my dog. And I log back in and I see this little girl. And this happened for a period of over 24 hours.” Kaplanis told ABC7’s 7 ON YOUR SIDE.

Making the matter more disturbing, the little girl never seemed to move. In fact, it didn’t even look like she was breathing. The feed was either fixed on a still photo, or a random piece of information—a single frame of video—had crossed signals with Ms. Kaplanis’ nanny cam.

So what is behind the mysterious apparition? Not even Vivitar, the company who manufactures the nanny cam Kaplanis uses, could tell you. According to ABC7, the company is still looking into the matter and say they haven’t noticed anything unusual on their end.

And that’s the perfect amount of ambiguity to propel this story of crossed signals into one of ghost children and possessed nanny cams.
