My Little Mad Max: Hardcore Ponies Blow Minds

Hardcore

My Little Pony never looked so hardcore.

Artist Kelsey Wailes is a consulting artists and self-attested “peep enthusiast” by day, and creates mind-blowing illustrations and custom toys by night. Wailes makes it a point to play with polymer clay and acrylic paints, and has taken to rehashing familiar toys we’ve grown up with into other horrifying versions, because of course.

“Mad Max Fury Road Ponies: Because I am a monster,” Wailes writes on the tumblr post. “They were super fun to make and super horrifying (I’m looking at you, Immortan Joe)”. We couldn’t agree more, and heck yeah, they’re totally badass.

Let us show you the awesomeness that is the set.

Max Rockatansky, complete with face grille, close-cropped mane and sun-frizzed tail. check out the glisten detail on his belt and jacket. Careful, it’s his favorite jacket.

Here’s Imperator Furiosa with her close-shorn hair, petrol-grease warpaint, and gritty prosthetic arm (leg? hoof?) Even as a pony, we can’t handle her chrome distilled badass awesomeness.

Here's Nux the Warboy (Warpony). Still pale with those haunting and incongruently adorable baby blues. for the love of Valhalla, someone give the poor baby a chapstick. We're serious.

Here’s Immortan Joe, acrylic body armor, desert-dry bone-white mane, and steel breather mask all accounted for.

What a lovely day.

These gorgeous babies (so shiny, so chrome) aren’t for sale anywhere online, BUT! If you happen to be around the Washington D.C. area this weekend, you could get a chance to bring home one of these darlings. Just head over to the Awesome Con happening at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and you’ll get to see lots more awesome works and more.
