Famous musicians, like any other kind of celebrity, have swaths of adoring worshipers. But all it takes is one false step, one glib moment, one bad single or hell, sometimes nothing at all, for them to be on the receiving end of the nastiest sh** Twitter has to offer.

In “Mean Tweets – Music Edition,” Jimmy Kimmel had famous songsters and songstresses read some of the vitriolic comments they receive on Twitter out loud in order to gauge their reactions. Most were dumbfounded by the petty nature of the 140-character insults, but some played along. John Legend’s reaction, particularly, is in need of a GIF.
