McDonalds Has Switched to Paper Straws and Milkshake Lovers Are Freaking Out

Hangry Customer Tries to Strangle McDonalds Worker Over Ketchup

We don’t know what it is about McDonalds that brings out the madness in people, but sometimes their customers are officially the worst.

From the “hangry” customer who tried to strangle a worker over ketchup, to the topless woman who went on a rampage at her local store, there’s no end of stories regarding customers taking the p*ss.

Now, McDonald’s fans in the UK are complaining that the fast food brand’s iconic milkshakes have been ruined by their new environmentally-friendly straws.

The chain has swapped their plastic straws for paper ones to help reduce damage to the environment, but customers say they can no longer enjoy the drinks, particularly milkshakes.

One outraged customer tweeted: “With the paper straws they are fine for coke but the other day I had a milkshake and I struggled so so much that I ended up getting one of my own plastic straws at home.”

While another imaginative fast food lover compared to paper straws to “sucking on a tampon.”

In fact, customers are so incensed, they’ve started a petition to get plastic straws back.

And they’re serious, as the petition already has 30,000 signatures.

However, the burger giant is unlikely to change their stance, as they’ve previously committed to lessening plastic waste.

A spokesman for McDonalds said: “Our suppliers have made us paper straws that last at least 30 minutes in most, if not all liquids.

“They were introduced following customer feedback, and we are pleased to be doing the right thing in removing plastic from our stores.”

You think customers would be more concerned that their touchscreens are covered in poo.
