In 2010 when Yankee Stadium was destroyed some of the seats from the historic ballpark were saved and now 20 of those seats are being used in a new program created by Mastercard and Facebook Places.
Twenty seats from the old stadium are being scattered around New York City today and fans who find the seats and scan a QR Code that has been attached to them will be checked into that location via Facebook Places, making them eligible to win VIP tickets for a 2011 Yankee game at MasterCard’s exclusive Batter’s Eye Café.
The seats, with baseball names such as Chin Music and Double Play are being placed at specific places around the city such as Katz’s Deli and the New York Stock Exchange and will run until the end of the month.
The program is part of the MasterCard Priceless New York campaign which offers one-of-a-kind experiences which is expected to eventually extend into other cities.
The program launches just after American Express and Foursquare have teamed up to offer discounts for various store check-ins.
