Police in Los Angeles arrested a hate crime suspect who they insist snatched the religious head coverings off of numerous Orthodox Jewish women in the North Hollywood region.

Police said the culprit was found at his home in Sherman Oaks Wednesday evening and with them he was very uncooperative. His name has yet to be released.
Two of the dupes were targeted on Yom Kippur, local enforcement said. The first victimized, an 80-year-old woman, was strolling along Bellaire Avenue near Burbank Blvd when the male perp, who looked to be in his mid-20s to early 30s and had been following her for some miles, swiped the wig from her head.
According to reports, the offender then smiled at the woman and handed the wig back to her, never speaking a word. After, he simply walked away.

The same day later on, a 36-year-old woman was approached from the rear by the same scoundrel while walking along Chandler Blvd near Bellaire Ave. The hairpiece bandit attempted to pull a wig off of that lady’s head in a similar manner to the first grabbing, according to police.
More than thirty days later, on Nov. 6, the defendant approached a 58-year-old woman who was loading equipment into her car, which was stationed near Laurel Canyon and Burbank Blvd. The miscreant seized the wig from the victim’s head and stated, “Oh, I’m sorry,” in a sardonic tone and tossed the victim’s wig on the ground before stepping off, police said.
While the accused was taken into custody Wednesday night, officials believe there may have been additional victims.
