LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner doesn’t understand where internet users will get enough enough free time to take advantage of Google+ and all it has to offer.
Speaking at a Churchill Club event Weiner was asked if there was a limit on the number of social networks that can coexist and he said Google has to get more “social” with their product.
“Nobody has any free time,” he said. “Unlike social platforms and TV, which can coexist, you don’t see people using Twitter while they’re using Facebook, or using Facebook while they’re using LinkedIn.”
He also brought up the fact that the introduction of Google+ has stirred up the social networking space which was pretty cut and dry before with LinkedIn used for professional life, Facebook for family and friends and Twitter for quick micro-blogging, while now he says:
“You introduce google+, where am I going to spend that next minute or hour of my discretionary time? I have no more time.”
Super-agent Ari Emanuel who was also sharing the stage along with questioner Kara Swisher of AllThingsD said that networks would eventually need original content to make their products stand out among competitors and that social networks need super agents like himself to help leverage that content.
