Google CEO Larry Page announced on Thursday that the company’s Google+ social network now features 90 million users.
Revealed in a Google fourth quarter press release Page wrote:
“I am super excited about the growth of Android, Gmail, and Google+, which now has 90 million users globally – well over double what I announced just three months ago,” Page says. “By building a meaningful relationship with our users through Google+ we will create amazing experiences across our services. I’m very excited about what we can do in 2012 – there are tremendous opportunities to help users and grow our business.”
Google’s last official numbers were released in October 2010 when they revealed 90 million active users. In December Paul Allen claimed the network was closer to 62 million users.
You may recall that analytics predication firm Experian Hitwise estimated in January that the company would reach 400 million users before 2012 draws to a close.
Introduced in June 2011 Google+ quickly grabbed the attention of 25 million users in it’s first month of beta testing, however the company still has a long way to go in catch Facebook which is expected to reach 1 billion monthly users by August.
In other news Google announced it’s first $10 billion quarter on Thursday with $10.58 billion while also touting that 250 million Android devices have now been sold worldwide.
