“The lap dances, posing for years as ‘an innocent dance’ are essentially a sexual act of physical contact intending to please customers.”

The State Attorney’s office, in conjunction with Israeli police, elected on Friday to take rigid measures against the practice of lap dances in strip bars and clubs.
The new decree intends to extirpate “the activity that in certain circumstances constitutes prostitution,” accordant to the Deputy State Attorney.

“As such, continued practice of ‘lap dances’ shall be considered a criminal offense against which extensive measures can be taken, including against owners of such establishments.”
Law enforcement issued a written notice to proprietors of strip clubs specifying the new policies and warning against police activities.
“The treatment to root out prostitution in Israel has begun,” said Attorney Nitzan Kahana of the Task Force on Human Trafficking.
“Strip clubs are a major part of this industry, not only because of ‘back rooms’ where women are abused for a full sexual act, but also due to the lap dances, posing for years as ‘an innocent dance’ when it is apparent to all that they are essentially a sexual act of physical contact intending to please customers.”

MK Michal Rozin (Meretz), another intense advocate of a bill striving to compare stripping to prostitution, lauded the police decision. She requested the government to sanction the law “and turn the policy into a clear-cut legal norm in Israel.”
Like bills were projected over recent years combating exploitation of women for sexual acts. Recently the ministry approved a bill to fine clients for utilizing prostitution services.
