A so-called thief who heisted an iPhone is now being sought by law enforcement after he shared a selfie to his dupe’s Instagram account.
Kearny police officers in New Jersey shared a severe close up a male they would like to chat with in connection with an iPhone theft. Though not the greatest, or most ideal, photograph, the alleged swiper can be seen to have glasses, facial hair, dark eyes and seems to be donning a green jacket. Now police are asking persons to share any info which may cast light on the identity of the enigmatic Instagram story-poster. Sharing his pic on Facebook, the department wrote: “Please Like and Share! The Kearny Police Detective Bureau is turning to our Facebook community for assistance in identifying a person of interest in the attached photograph.
“On May 16th a victim reported to the Kearny Police Department that his iPhone had been stolen. Shortly after the theft, a suspect posted the attached photograph of himself on the victim’s Instagram story using the stolen device. Anyone who can identify the person of interest in this photograph is asked to contact the Kearny Police Detective bureau by e-mailing us at tips@kearnynjpd.org or by calling 201-998-1313 (2833). All tips will remain confidential.” Kearny Police shared an update a few days later to explain that no one had identified the suspect yet. And moral of this story, is: if you’re going to steal (which we frown upon, of course), don’t mindlessly post it on social media.
