Meat lovers rejoiced on Thursday night as they took part in an In-N-Out Reddit AMA with Reddit user and cook ‘dravila9.’ The Ask Me Anything session focused on everything from paychecks to funny stories about customers. Dravila9 even reveals that In-N-Out employees often come up with their own take on the company’s classic products.
So what exactly do In-N-Out Burger employees do after close? Dravila9 writes:
“Took bacon in to cook after closing and it really changes everything. Sweet Jesus it was the greatest thing I’ve ever had!”
Apparently it is also possible to create donuts at In-N-Out Burger by “squirting milkshake syrup on burger buns and dunking them in the fryer.”
Another creation has been deemed the “super baked potato” and involves coring a potato, frying it, then filling it with chopped burger patties, melted cheese, onions, chiles, and tomatoes.

“OMG if In-N-Out sold the chili dogs they give at the family picnics the world really wouldn’t be able to handle it.”
So why doesn’t In-N-Out stock some of the stuff dravila9 and his co-workers loves? He explains:
“It’s too complicated to keep real fresh bacon on hand and ready to cook … since we don’t use that cheap fake bacon.”
Working at In-N-Out Burger has other perks, for example, clean shirts and aprons are provided to employees every single day so laundry isn’t a problem. Having worked in the fast food industry in the past I fully understand the pain of being given two or three shirts and needing to do laundry every other day.
In-N-Out Burger is also good to their employees in terms of pay. Dravila9 explains that workers earn $10 to start out (above minimum wage levels), and even part-time employees receive dental and vision benefits plus a life insurance policy. Full-time workers add medical and disability benefits to their roster. Work your way up to a general manager position with your own store and you can make $120,000 a year.
Our favorite story from the In-N-Out Burber Reddit AMA involves an elderly customers who meant to ask for a 3×3 animal style burger but instead asked for a “three-way doggy style” burger.
So there you have it, In-N-Out Burger is the happiest place on earth. Take that Disney.
