Hugh Jackman revealed a recent scare he had with skin cancer, reassuring fans that everything is okay now. The actor posted a photo of himself on Instagram with a bandage on his nose on Thursday.
Jackman wrote, “Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basil cell carcinoma. Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!”
A basil cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer and accounts for over 90 percent of US skin cancer patients. They rarely spread, but can damage and disfigure surrounding tissue if they aren’t removed. The small cancer balls can look like open sores, red spots, moles, or scars. Jackman didn’t disclose what his skin cancer looked like, but we’re glad his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, told him to get it checked out.
Hugh Jackman’s rep had no further comment beyond what the actor posted on Instagram.
