Normally, we don’t do politics. But we are interested in how political figures use social media, and among them all, Barack is the king. At least, he used to be.
According to TIME, the above video is the latest effort from the White House ad machine to make the Affordable Care Act seem cool and to help some 4 million newly-uninsured Americans find their way to the exchanges.
Now, the Affordable Care Act may indeed be cool. We wouldn’t know because that’s not our purview. What we do know is social media, and let me tell you, that video sucks hard ass.
Here are some of the single’s real lyrics:
“When I’m in the Oval Office call me President Barack, President Barack President Barack / When my critics get an attitude I tell ‘em to stop, I tell ‘em to stop, I tell ‘em to stop / And if you need that new healthcare sign up ’cause it’s hot, sign up ’cause it’s hot, sign up ’cause it’s hot”
Snoop Lion, surely you did not sign off on this.
The video was solicited and released by Get Covered, and while they managed to grab some primo talent (Iman Crosson, also known as Alphacat, who is otherwise very affable and entertaining), the video is kind of a tough sell for us. To be frank, it comes off as patronizing propaganda.
But watch it above and tell us what you think in the comments below.
