Ron Howard, who has directed Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and dozens of other movies also directed the Beatles documentary entitled “Eight Days A Week: The Touring Years” that will be shown in select theaters on September 16th. Here are a few quick facts that you need to know about the movie before you stream it on Hulu.
1.) The gang is in on it
Unlike a lot of the other Beatles documentaries that you might have seen that have little or nothing to do with the band (other than that they’re about them), this film was actually produced with the full cooperation of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the past wives of John Lennon and George Harrison. And as much as you might hate Yoko, it feels good that everybody is in on the deal.
2.) Hulu is hedging their bets
Eight Days a Week will be the first full-length film to premier on Hulu and the platform is already promoting the movie. They’re going to be streaming the movie on the site on September 17th, only a day after it shows in theaters.
3.)It’s not your typical Beatles picture
Rather than focus on the supergroup in the studio and the sort of drug-induced shenanigans that they got into later in their career, the film will focus almost exclusively on their early years. Specifically from 1962 to 1966 when they were literally nothing more than a couple of musicians from Liverpool trying to make their mark.
Exclusive Footage
Of course, they’re promising exclusive footage with the new film. Unfortunately, this is all very hush-hush. Though if I had to guess I would bet that it’s not going to be from their last gig in San Fransisco. I’m putting my money on exclusive footage from the earlier years in Germany and maybe even a few interviews that we haven’t seen yet or at least have mostly forgotten about.
