The Golden Globe Awards took place January 13, 2013 and many Twitter users were talking about the awards show live. Twitter’s official blog shared that a total of 3.6 million tweets were sent out during the red carpet press event and the awards show. A total of 4.2 million tweets were sent out over a 24 hour period.
There were several big moments at the Golden Globes. The biggest occurred when Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress in a comedy or musical. Twitter saw a spike of 19,886 tweets per minute. When Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress in a comedy or musical, there were 19,695 tweets per minute.
Our 42nd President Bill Clinton made a surprise appearance to introduce Lincoln which was nominated as Best Motion Picture – Drama. His cameo resulted in 18,290 tweets per minute.
While there were a lot of tweets about who won at the Golden Globes, Twitter users also had some fun with the event.
