Foursquare Users Now Checking In 3 Million Times Per Day, Attracts Half A Million Merchants

Foursquare Founder Dennis Crowley

In February Foursquare announced that 2 million check-ins were being performed on a daily basis and now CEO Dennis Crowley has revealed that the location based service is racking up 3 million check-ins per day.

Given the company’s user base of 10 million customers that’s a 30% rate per day, a number that should calm some critics assumptions that “check-in” fatigue would leave the company’s user base in shatters.

At this time Foursquare hasn’t revealed the average number of check-ins per user which would give a better representation of actual involvement by the sites overall user base, however the number does suggest that on some level users are willing to engage with the program and their Foursquare friends.

If those numbers are not impressive enough for you Crowley has also announced that 500,000 merchants have now signed up to use the company’s platform, a service that is currently offered free of charge.
