Facebook Testing New Messenger For Android Design

Facebook Messenger

Facebook is currently testing a new design on its Messenger for Android app, which borrows design cues from Google’s Hangouts app, and Skype.

When viewing your list of friends in Messenger, you’ll now see a small blue icon on their photo, letting you know they’re also using the app.

SMS support has also been added, and in order to receive text messages, you’ll need to verify your phone number.

If you’re hoping to get access to the new design, chances are you’ll be left out for the time being.

Facebook says it “will be testing this new experience with a limited number of people,” and its iOS counterpart has yet to be announced.
