Facebook Moves Into New Menlo Park Headquarters

Facebook Headquarters

Facebook on Monday officially moved their full staff into their new Menlo Park campus, the former home of Sun Microsystems.

The move comes at a time when Facebook is expected to launch an IPO in the coming months (possibly in April). The new office space provides plenty of room for growth with a 57-acre campus (with rights to develop 22-acres next to the current land). The headquarters now houses nearly 2,000 employees and features plenty of features designed to maximize productivity and creativity including glass-paneled conference rooms and a complete lack of cubicle or private office space.

In a company blog post John Tenanes, Facebook’s global real estate director wrote:

“For years, we’ve been moving from one building to the next, but now we finally have a home in this ten building campus.”

The company has come a long way from Mark Zuckerberg’s Harvard dorm room in 2004, having taken up roots in Palo Alto and now moving to their new 1601 Willow Road address.

Even with employees all settled in the company is still in the renovation process with upgrades still being added daily and walls being torn down to create a more open space that gets rid of the “office” atmosphere that existed at Sun Microsystems.

The social network is also still constructing their centralized courtyard that connects the entire campus. The courtyard will contain two cafes, on-site doctors, a fitness center and more once completed.
