Fab.com has launched a new daily deals buying portal today that offers up to 70% off various well-design products.
The site works like many other shopping portals, allowing users to see current and upcoming sales (up to 7 days ahead of the sale). Each sale runs for three days and items so far range anywhere from $8 (jewelry book) to $624 (a vase by “ceramics superstar” Hella Jongerius, 35% off retail). Sales pricing for upcoming sales however are not announced, only the product is shown, ensuring that interested parties make an extra trip back to the site when an item they may want goes on-sale.
The site goes one step further by offering users the ability to earn real cash by spreading the word about each sale to their friends via Twitter and Facebook. Simply convince your friends to sign up for the site and you earn cash when they purchase an item.
Users can also visit the sites Inspiration Wall which allows visitors to upload images and browse images from other customers of the Fab.com community.
Originally launched as trending website Fabulis the social network for gay men has nearly completely reinvented themselves as LGBT issues have become more “mainstream” and gay and lesbian users have begun to gravitate more towards traditional websites for their news and other information.
The site already has partnerships with more than 175 articles, designers and retailers and a user pass that has surpassed 200,000 members which leads me to believe that this isn’t the last we’ll hear about their new direction. The site is also being advised by Ashton Kutcher and his angel fund A Grade alongside various other well known financial partners.
