Some members of Congress may be avoiding micro-blogging service Twitter and social network Facebook for fear that they could be exposed by Breitbart and other self-serving web “reporters.” According to stats collected TweetCongress less congressional members have been tweeting after the incident.
The study has found that Congressional members are tweeting 28 percent less than they did during the last workweek (May 30 through June 3).
The study does mention that the first day was Memorial Day (May 30), a day when Tweet volume was expected to fall, however weekly numbers still show an overall slowdown in Twitter use by politicians.
There is a chance that members of Congress were simply choosing to distance themselves for a short period of time from Twitter in order to avoid uncalled for observations about their own Twitter use.
Oddly, Weiner’s account wasn’t even hacked, he CHOSE to send those pictures of himself to various women. Perhaps if members of Congress would simply create stronger online account passwords they would have nothing to worry about and could head back to spreading their agenda’s across the network.
